 Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO/BirdLife)


The Spanish Ornithological Society (Sociedad Española de Ornitología - SEO/BirdLife), has been dedicated to the conservation of birds and their habitats for almost 50 years. SEO is also compiling information on birds in Spain which will include common names, scientific and English names, and photos. Bird observations are continually collected (first and last sightings of migrating birds, rare visitors, etc.) (Noticiario Ornitológico, Report of the Comité de Rarezas, Report of the Comité de Fenología).

 Iberian & Macaronesian Herbarium Association (AHIM)


The Iberian and Macaronesian Herbarium Association (Asociación de Herbarios Ibero-Macaronésicos - AHIM) brings together universities and research centers with the most important collections on the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic and Macaronesian Islands, as well as smaller institutions, professionals and individuals interested in its activities. Some of the activities of the AHIM include: organization of botanical expeditions and workshops, periodic publication of a bulletin (Bulletin of the AHIM) and arrangement of meetings at least once a year (AHIM General Assembly).

The Spanish Virtual Entomology Community (Comunidad Virtual de Entomología - CvE) is a discussion forum on insects. Its main service is the electronic distribution list ENTOMOLOGÍA, although the CvE includes as well other more specialized lists on Arachnids, Coleoptera, Cerambycidae etc.

 Spanish Society for the Study and Conservation of Mammals - SECEM


The Spanish Society for the Study and Conservation of Mammals (Sociedad Española para la Conservación y el Estudio de los Mamíferos - SECEM) aims to promote the knowledge and interest on mammals through conservation studies and activities. They organize workshops, conferences, exhibitions, simposiums, congress and meetings, besides divulgation and conservation campaigns. They publish the SECEM bulletin and some other scientific and divulgation publications.

The Spanish Society of Malacology (Sociedad Española de Malacología - SEM) was founded in 1980 to promote and spread malacological studies through meetings and publications. They organize the National Congress on Malacology in Spain. They also publish the News Bulletin of the Spanish Society of Malacology, 'Iberus' magazine and 'Reseñas Malacológicas' magazine.

 European Directory of Marine Environment Datasets (EDMED)


The European Directory of Marine Environmental Datasets - EDMED has established itself as a de-facto European standard for indexing and searching datasets relating to the marine environment. It covers a wide range of disciplines and is a high-level inventory, including information on both datasets and data holding centres. At present, EDMED already comprises metadata on 2814 datasets from 574 data holding centres across Europe. Information is made available via the Sea-Search website:

 K2N - Key To Nature


Key to Nature (K2N), is an European project within the “Econtent-Plus” Programme that promotes digital access to information in Europe.
