Description: The Coordination Unit of the Spanish GBIF node organises a replica of the fifth GBIF Ecological Niche Modelling workshop. The basic concepts needed to understand and perform biological data analysis through modelling are studied in this practical workshop, together with diverse software commonly used in this field, as Desktop GARP or MaxEnt.
This workshop will be given by Elisa Liras from Almería University in collaborarion with Alicia Gómez (Centro de Información Cartográfica y Territorial de Extremadura, Consejería de Fomento, Junta de Extremadura). It will take place in May from the 4th to the 7th 2010 in the computing facility of The Royal Botanical Garden (CSIC). The deadline to send pre-subscription forms is April the 9th, 2008.

Description: The 4th Call of the Ciclo de Ciencia e Sociedade will take place in March from the 2nd to the 4th in Vigo. The main goal of these conferences is to spread the importance of biodiversity through demostrations of Spanish biodiversity programmes, pointing the hot areas where the loss of biodiversity is increasing and finally showing methods to cuantify the worldwide bioidversity. A presentation about GBIF will be given by Dr. Francisco Pando, manager of the Spanish GBIF node.
