Description: This workshop is addressed to technicians specialised in natural history collection specimen data recording, both in zoological and botanical ones. During the workshop, the different approaches to the digitization of this kind of information will be studied. The software application used will be Herbar Zoorbar Liegero (HZL), developed by the Coordination Unit of the Spanish GBIF Node. The advanced functionalities and their use to manage natural history collections will not be included in the workshop, since there are specific workshops on those issues.

Description: Kenya Biodiversity Information Facility (KenBIF) and GBIF Finland were selected as one of the three GBIF Mentoring Projects in 2010. This programme brought different GBIF Participant Nodes (South Africa, Tanzania, Finland and Spain) together to organised a workshop KENBIF Stakeholder Consultation Workshop that took place in Nairobi from 6th-10th June 2011. The aim was to share their experiences – and expertise with Kenia and enabled the quick transfer of information, technologies, experiences and best practices on documentation, management and data and metadata exchange to enforce the GBIF Node of Kenia.

Description: The Coordination Unit of the Spanish GBIF node organises a replica of the seventh GBIF Ecological Niche Modelling workshop. The basic concepts needed to understand and perform biological data analysis through modelling are studied in this practical workshop, together with diverse software commonly used in this field, as Open Modeller or MaxEnt.
This workshop will be given by Blas M. Benito from Centro Andaluz de Medio Ambiente. It will take place in May from the 10th to the 13th 2011 in the computing facility of The Royal Botanical Garden (CSIC). The deadline to send pre-subscription forms is April the 9th, 2011.
