Speech in the BioCASE General Meeting 2004 - Oct 2004
	Status: closed Venue and date: Venice (Italy), 23-24 October 2004.   Description: Jorge M. Lobo from the Spanish National Museum of Natural Sciences and Alberto González Talaván from the Coordination Unit of the Spanish GBIF Node, participated in the last general meeting held within the European project BioCASE. They gave a speech about the evolution of the directory of natural history collections and centres in Spain and about its publication in the GBIF.ES website (.PPT file, 25.1 Mb).
Symposium: The Role of Natural History Museums in the XXI Century Society - Jun 2004
	Status: closed Venue and date: Madrid (Spain), June 15-16, 2004.   Description: This Symposium conveyed to the Spanish public the importance that natural history collections play in knowing and protecting not only Spain's but the world's natural patrimony.   Francisco Pando gave a speech called "Spanish Node of the international initiative Global Biodiversity Information Facility" (.PPT file, 12.8 Mb). XV Biennial Meeting of the Spanish Royal Society of Natural History - Sep 2003
	Status: closed Venue and date: La Coruña (Spain), September 12th, 2003.   Description: One of the activities included in this biennial meeting was a discussion session about "Biodiversity Information Systems", coordinated by Santiago Castroviejo (Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid (CSIC)). Symposium: Catalogue of life: towards a integrative view of biodiversity on Earth - May 2002
	Status: closed Venue and date: Madrid (Spain), May 8-9, 2002.   Description: This International Symposium was one of the preliminary activities previous to the establishment of the Coordination Unit of the Spanish GBIF Node. The Ramón Areces Foundation and the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid (CSIC) organized in 2002 this meeting that gathered relevant experts in biodiversity information management from all around the world.   The appropriateness of this Symposium came from the concurrence of two circumstances. On one hand, the awareness on biodiversity issues and resulting endeavours seeking satisfactory access to biodiversity information, at national as well as international scale.
