Description in English
The Herbarium BIO is supported by the University of the Basque Country and it is located in the Faculty of Science and Technology in Leioa (Bizkaia). It houses more than 50,000 specimens of vascular plants and this collection includes pteridophytes, gymnosperms and angiosperms. About the geographical scope most of the specimens are from the North of the Iberian Peninsula and in particular from the Basque Country and surroundings. The specimens are pressed and dried plants collected in different projects. The Herbarium BIO holds a reference collection used for identification and research and the specimens can be sent on loan under curator’s permission only to other recognised botanical institutions.
