Description

The ostracod ecology laboratory of the Department of Microbiology and Ecology, Universitat de València, leaded by associate professor Francesc Mesquita Joanes investigates the ecology of freshwater Ostracoda. The shell remains of ostracods in the sediment have been traditionally used for paleoenvironmental and paleoecological research. The research group has also used these organisms as water quality indicators, in evolutionary ecology of reproduction and the study of colonization of new areas by exotic species.
